The Final Demographic Racial Transition: Africa and the African Diaspora

The first demographic racial transition occurred toward the end of the fifteenth century, and such transitions continue to be a major driver of social change today. After providing an overview of demographic racial transitions over the past five hundred years, Dr. Zuberi will focus on the place of Africa and the African Diaspora in what appears to be the final such transition among human populations.
Dr. Tukufu Zuberi is the Lasry Family Professor of Race Relations and Professor of Sociology and Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on race and African/African Diasporic populations. He appeared on PBS for many years as host of "The History Detectives."
